Wood pellet prices rise in Germany with the start of the heating season

Wood pellet prices in Germany saw a significant increase in October 2025 with the start of the heating season, with the average price per ton reaching approximately €366.25, up 9.3% compared to the previous month, according to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI).

In the northern and eastern regions, the price reached approximately €372.25/ton, in the southern regions around €367.90/ton, and in central Germany around €362.06/ton. Although wood pellets are still approximately 32% cheaper than natural gas and 16.3% cheaper than heating oil, this seasonal increase is a reminder that early stockpiling may be worthwhile to avoid further increases. This development also points to pressures on the wood and bioenergy supply chain, which could impact consumer decisions during cold winter periods.
